FAQ

Common questions about registry lookup, digital certificates, account access, and support.

Is Service Animal Registry a government agency?

No. Service Animal Registry is an independent registry and verification portal. Legal access rules may vary by jurisdiction and should be reviewed separately.

What does the QR code verify?

It verifies a public SVAN record: registry status, animal profile fields, handler display name, microchip if shared, and the date the profile was last updated.

Does the public page show medical information?

No. The public verification page is designed to avoid diagnosis, private medical records, identity documents, home address, and other sensitive information.

Can this help with airline travel?

It can organize documents and provide a clean travel profile. Airline and DOT requirements still need to be followed separately, especially for forms and advance notices.

What is the difference between service animal and emotional support animal?

For ADA public access in the United States, a service animal is generally a dog trained to perform tasks for a person with a disability. Emotional support by presence alone is treated differently and should not be presented as the same category.
